It is fairly warm here on Long Island today which is unusual for February but this week it is going down to 9 degrees so I went to the beach. I will also collect water here today.
This is my walk there which is only a couple of hundred yards.

There was a bunch of seagulls on the sand so I scared them. Sorry birds.

I don’t know why but when I saw your user name, I immediately thought of this…
How I hated that commercial when I was growing up, my friends would yell my name out the window on Wednesdays. lol, I tried to stay indoors on that day.
But my Mom would never do this to me unless I was a bad boy, which wasn't very often. How I hated that commercial when I was growing up, my friends would yell my name out the window on Wednesdays. lol, I tried to stay indoors on that day.

I haven't seen that type of diatom filter since I had mine a little over 30 years ago. This is what I use now, don't need the diatomaceous earth (powder) with this micron cartridge. It will be more efficient with the powder but not needed and is good enough for me when cleaning rocks and sand in the tank.I run it through Phosban. First I have to run it through a diatom filter because it is filled with particles and chopped up seaweed. I am doing that now.
Thats what Phosban is. I use the silica removing resins in my RO system for my tap water which is loaded with silicates. If I didn't have this annoying sponge, I wouldn't care about silica. You can remove silicate with silicate removing resin. Sera do one.
My favorite are the pipefish. I lost my Janss Pipefish but he lived about 7 years which is their lifespan.Do you have a favorite fish in your system?
