It is fairly warm here on Long Island today which is unusual for February but this week it is going down to 9 degrees so I went to the beach. I will also collect water here today.

This is my walk there which is only a couple of hundred yards.

There was a bunch of seagulls on the sand so I scared them. Sorry birds.

We all knew you were ahead of your time but this confirms it. It’s January 30th and you’re already in February!

How I hated that commercial when I was growing up, my friends would yell my name out the window on Wednesdays. lol, I tried to stay indoors on that day.

I think most folks didn’t realize that Anthony Martignetti was a real boy and that was his real name and his real home in the commercial.

Today is almost 60 degrees which is unheard of for this time of the year so naturally I collected some water here.

The water is 45 degrees and the salinity is 0.019 so I can keep kissing gouramies. :flushed-face:
Now I have to remove the silica or my sponge will cover my house.

I run it through Phosban. First I have to run it through a diatom filter because it is filled with particles and chopped up seaweed. I am doing that now.

I haven't seen that type of diatom filter since I had mine a little over 30 years ago. This is what I use now, don't need the diatomaceous earth (powder) with this micron cartridge. It will be more efficient with the powder but not needed and is good enough for me when cleaning rocks and sand in the tank.

Thats what Phosban is. :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes: I use the silica removing resins in my RO system for my tap water which is loaded with silicates. If I didn't have this annoying sponge, I wouldn't care about silica.

I have 5 diatom filters in various states of decomposition.

Do you have a favorite fish in your system?
My favorite are the pipefish. I lost my Janss Pipefish but he lived about 7 years which is their lifespan.

So now my favorites are my bluestripe pipes.

Looks like you got your money's worth out of them for the past 47 years.

Some of them are probably from the 60s when I had freshwater fish. :D
Paul,
Janus Joplin once said about the 60s, “if you remember them you weren’t really there”. I think she was talking aboyt Southern Comfrot & LSD. HOWEVER, I have seen pictures of you in the 60’s in the jungle.
