Hello All!

This is my first post, and I am looking for help on where to place my first tank. This will be my first saltwater aquarium and I would certainly like it somewhere it will be appreciated. My house isnt very big so my options are limited.

I hope this isnt too many pics, or I am posting in the wrong area.

Tank of choice: Reefer 250

Minimalistic design

I hope to hear some feedback! THANK YOU!

Entryway
- 2 options, basically where the 2 wall paintings are. (Where the TV is on the floor or closer to the kitcen where the current table is)

I would probably suggest not the kitchen to be on the safe side. By the looks of your house I would say the living room would get the most viewing area, if you can make it fit in there. It’s a big tank so hopefully some experts come along to comment.

Edit: is shifting the tv over possible?

In my opinion, best place is where the dart board is. The hallway is not a good place, too much traffic and not an ideal viewing area. Your living room is full of direct light areas and it would not be ideal placed close to the tv (noise, glare, etc…), the area where the dart board is is out of the high traffic area, direct sun and a decent viewing area. And a plus is access to a nearby sink.

I totally agree with @uhgster1 for all those reasons. Too much ambient sunlight in the living room. Hallway is not a good place for comfortable viewing (unless you want to cut a hole in the wall and install a 8-12 foot tank??? ).

Oh yeah didn’t consider the noise or light, dart board might be far enough from the kitchen and actually is a pretty good spot. I bought light blocking curtains for the whole apartment, but living room was the only place I could put my tank.

Your living room is already a bit crowded with furniture too, might be a chore to do maintenance in there. Might find yourself more interested in sitting in the dining room now instead of your couch though. I hardly watch anything on tv anymore with the tank to look at unless I’m on the computer doing research on the tank.

I prefer to have my tank in the living room where I can see it while watching TV in the evening, but in your case I dont think it would look good in either spot in the living room. I think the hallway would look nice, but it's somewhere that you probably won't normally look at it.
I guess where I am going with this is that I agree under the dart board would be best, I assume you've measured to make sure there is room. It looks like it'll be a tight fit. Also, I'd make sure to move the dart board, in my house I guarantee one of my kids would still try to throw darts at the board.

Easy access to water and electric and within view as much as possible. I say where the tv is.

I say put it where you spend the most time. Which for me is the living room, and about four feet away from my chair. I can look at the tank any time when watching TV or on the laptop. It also forces me to keep the glass clean since it's front and center so to speak.

I wouldn't put it in the hallway. I like to be able to sit and look, vs standing and looking.

Have you taken a look at your joists and load bearing walls? That’s a lot of weight and it may eliminate some options. I know even for my 100G I got down to basically one option in my entire house
