I heard somewhere that faviidae is limited to the Atlantic Ocean while lobophylliidae and merulinidae are limited to the Pacific Ocean. Is this true?

faviidae is found in both caribbean and pacific….
and their diversity is rivaled only by acroporidae.

maybe you’re thinking about mussimillia?
they’re exclusively atlantic.

This is the article I got the information from.
“This is in contrast to the Mussidae (which sport smaller spines of a different morphology), to which they formerly belonged and which are now restricted to the Atlantic.”
