temperature probe work outside of water?

If this is the wrong place for this let me know and I will move it.

I am wanting to purchase a controller for my current reef and I want to use it to control the temperature and humidity in a vivarium as well. It will hold my brazilian rainbow boa (James Thadeous Bond) and a collection of orchids.

I will need to control the temp and humidity by turning on and off heaters, fans, and misters. I wondering if this was possible?

Temperature probe will measure the temp of whatever fluid(air is a fluid in this sense) it is submersed in as long as it is within the temp probes measuring capabilities. Therefor, it should have no problem measuring the ambient air temp in your vivarium, but condensation on the probe may lead to some issues.
