Tenecor DIY tank for R2R

I made a good-faith effort to search for the thread that describes the design -- and later, build discussion -- for the little DIY acrylic AIO that Tenecor did for R2R. I am coming up empty. Can anyone shed some light on this? Or send a link to an old man?

Ah, dangit. There was some great info on that thread. I get that people come and go. But on a forum, threads which don't violate TOS should last forever.

In any case, I definitely appreciate the info, even if it's not the info I was hoping for.

I'm not sure what post by Tenecor you're looking for, but you can click the "search" tab in the upper right of R2R, then under "Posted By" you can search for and find everything that Tenecor posted here on R2R.

I was a part of that thread and I looked and looked and you are right, they have vanished! what the heck?

Do you need assistance with their DIY tank? i know a few that bought it along with me, although I have not glued mine together yet.

That's really weird, but it was also weird the way Tencor was suddenly not around anymore. Maybe they had some falling out.

I didn't get in on any of their DIY tank kits, but many here did, and I'm sure someone will be able to help you out.

I bought one at the time and thought about gluing it up in the coming weeks/months. I know there is a wealth of info out there (including other places on this forum) about acrylic assembly (methods, adhesives, etc.), but that thread addressed a lot of specifics with that design, so it would have been a great/helpful guide. I will probably just research a bit and then reply to/start thread(s) as needed.

On a related note, I did appreciate the level of involvement and exchange Tenecor Aquariums engaged in on the forum. If Tenecor is no more (including the business), I hope it is because the owner is off enjoying his retirement.

I believe the thread was removed.

Best advice I can offer - dry fit everything first. If you have corner clamps (90°), use them in the top corners and then "spot weld" the sides.

This was my first attempt and Weld-On can get messy - DON'T WIPE IT, it will make it ugly if you wipe it, so just let it dry.

Even the "thick" Weld-On is very runny so if you can keep the tube mostly vertical and just give a little squeeze to have a small stream and apply from top to bottom it's the best way I found to make less mess.

It's a great little project. Less is more in my experience with the weld on. I used the regular and it was like water. But it got into the seems just fine through capillary action.

I liked using weld on 4. weld on 3 is a little too watery and sets really fast and weld on 16 too thick and doesnt look as nice

you should be able to buff it out since it is acrylic

I used Weldon 4 and used a syringe. I despise those bottles and really see no reason to use em. I'm sure it's a learned skill, but syringes allow you to really control the flow and avoid any accidental drips or overflow.

Yeah, after it dries you can. Smearing it makes it a lot harder to buff. Also, these ones are pretty small so getting in to buff the corners isn't easy.

Luckily i didnt need to, the only place i got extra was the bottom pane and it isnt noticeable, but im still figuring out what to do with the 12"x12"x6" tank. Right now it just has 2 clowns and 2 carpet nems. It is temporary but the fish are actually doing great, the nems will outgrow it pretty quickly though.
