also I little worried about the leopard wrassse's as they dont ship all that well and no LFS with in 100's of miles. from all the research ppl say to wait 2-3 week at the LFS to get it and you will have better chance of being successful and let them worry about the loss if it dont make it...ah what do you I really like them. there not covered by the normal 14 day grantee from L.A I believe so ...we shell see.
maybe I go with more fairies?

If I didn't have good LFS around me I would buy from LA/DD for leopards....I think they might be one of the only online retailers to offer the guarantee on leopards. So if you want one that might be worth a try. Leopards are cool fish!

progress I found a way to hard plumb the reefer. I want to use a "better" gate valve for the full siphon and 1" return and manifold.
not a lot of info out there on the new V3 sumps and hard plumbing in a manifold many, many hours more than I care to admit was spend on this task.

I will fallow @Whip 750 build ( no need to reinvent the wheel eh) and cut the down pipes and add nipples so it fits 1" 'standard' plumping.

the 2nd option ( if anyone searching this thread ) is go with metric to standard unions the ones I found where $20 each and I was not 100% Sure on the RS pipe size. one would need to research this a bit more. but if you just wanted to do the return that might be a solution.
but as I am going to do 2 if not all three $40-60 just for unions was a bit much.

so more plumbing parts are ordered should be here mid week. I'll do a write up so you all can see what I did .

just ordered a 5# bucked of pink E-marco cement from BRS. again I spend way to long looking in to the 'best" or right way for me and this solution I think is the right choice.

I really thought about the cheaper quickcreat with a hardener but my I read if you dont mix it right then it can crumble in the tank. plus there is a chance it and rise PH. if you are doing a all dry rock scape I prob. would have gone this way. and let it cure in water for a min. of 2-3 weeks.
but I am using wet LR I needed something that cure pretty fast so I can add it to the tank.

all other options seem like they where to pricey for larger tanks.
so it's e-marco for the win. i'll let you all know how it turns out.

i'll also might try some DIY rock more on that later...

After reading your post on what cement to use, I am going with E-Marco too! Thanks for sharing best practices!

Please post lots of pics of your scape.

Devaji,

I am digging your lid and will likely get the same. Was shipping brutal (cost-wise)?

I think If I remember right it was around $40?? it is a nice lid but if I was to do it again I would make it two different pieces so if you are doing maintenance on one side the other side would be covered. just a thought you can ask him if he can do that if you think it would be helpful.

PS. I got the XL feed door, auto feeder cut out and 4 power cords cutouts 2 on back 2 on sides.

$40 to ship isn’t that bad... I had heard it was much more.

Thanks for the suggestion on the two part lid. I really appreciate it.

PS - Your lid looks great.

don't quote me on the shipping I was just trying to find in on the CC statement but no luck. best bet would shout him an email or FB and see. just so you know for sure.

I do like the lid. it does look sexy and sleek for sure.

Working on my light hanging solution.
Took me a while to find the parts I needed.

I do not like the roof end of the photon V2 lights so I francanstined a better method

Much sleeker :)

Had some time today to work on the build.
Went to the Hayward store to get parts to hand my lights.
Got some toggle bolts to do into the try wall.

However looks like I need a flat bolt as the hanging wire end was bigger than I thought. Boo another trip to ace. :/

I don't mind the gap
But it wants to twist the wire. So might as well do it right the 1st time.

In other tank news I got in the plumbing parts I was waiting on.

It's the Red sea part #R42221 and it dose fit on the down pipes. More about that later tho :)

So here is a quick update on those red sea adapters.

Unscrew the barb fitting get yourself a 3/4"X1" thread to slip.

A few rounds of good thread tape I used blue monster ppl seam to really like it. It's thicker than the cheap white stuff.

there you go you just Converted your Red sea metric to 1" plumbing.

If I would have known all this I would have bought the schedule 80 3/4"x1" slip when I was placing my order from supply house.
Was felling cheap and did not want to spend $15 More bucks on 2 prices of plumbing + the time it takes to get here.
Also wanted to make sure it really did work!

I believe total price was around $50 that included ( not counting rest of 1"plumbing)
Thread tape
Red sea adapters I only did return and main drain
3/4"x1"

What do you all think should I order the schedule 8o pages to leave it white or paint it?

More plumbing work...always amazes me how long it take to get an idea and do it.

Here is my main drain mock up. It's not glued yet.
And a pic of my view from the front porch doing the work. cuz it was a beautiful day out.

Thoughts and feed back welcome.
