Over the years I’ve had 3 coral beauties, 2 flame, 2 potters and 3 lemonpeel. Only one coral beauty and one lemonpeel ever bothered any of my corals. I can only assume I’ve had good luck because I feed my fish well.

Same, I feed my flameback and multicolor well and I’ve never lost a coral or have seen them nip anything

My 11 inch blue face
Very nice! How long have you had it? Have had mine about 3 years and it's probably about 6" (started at 2.5"). They are not as fast growing as many other Pomacanthus spp in my experience. Certainly not as fast as the Annularis I had. In 10 months it went from 1.5" to about 8"... though it was captive bred.

Wow 122 pages I would say this was long overdue. I only have a 52 gal tk so I am limited to dwarfs. Lemon peel, flame and African flame back

Hi all of you experienced angelfish keepers out there. I have decided to go an angelfish heavy route once I have my setup, because I have the most captive bred options available to me whereas I don’t have the same kinds of CB options for any other “show fish”. That means no CB Tangs (unless counting the Blue Tangs which IMO not that into, and my part of the world has no access to CB Yellows or Purples yet), and no CB butterflies.

There’s 4 CB large angels I am very interested in, they are all from Bali Aquarich: Majestic (common), Goldflake (common), Blue Line (not as common), and Clarion (not as common, and trust me they’re cheaper than the wild ones). I really want to have a collection of all 4 but I want to do it right.

1. What order should I add them in if I cannot add all at the same time?

2. Are they all slow growers? How big should I expect them to get in captivity?

3. How big of a tank will I need for all 4 of them? What is their activity level compared to a Tang (yes I know even Tangs have different activity levels though all are fairly active)

4. If I cannot get a very big tank (ideally I want 8’ up to 300 gallons, that’s the largest I’ll consider), will any of these work in a smaller 5-5.5’ tank that’s at least 120-130 gallons?

Also have some CB dwarfs to choose from. Colin’s (P. Colini) is frequently available, Hybrid Lemonpeel x Half Black, sometimes also see CB Multibar and Bicolor (not sure from Bali Aquarich but they’re listed as CB and go for 2.5-3x the price of the very cheap wild ones from Indo and Philippines, from videos I’ve seen they’re juveniles too just not sure who’s breeding them). CB Venusta I have seen templates for them on wholesaler’s lists but never seen actual ones available. Other than the Bicolors I’m sure all the others are bred by Bali Aquarich.

What is the temperament of these dwarfs going from least to most aggressive? I really want more than one variety, maybe even 2 or more pairs of them, starting with a Colin’s pair. Or maybe it’s better to mix different species as singles? Because I love to see the breeding behavior of fish and not just your everyday Clownfish breeding and laying eggs.

Thanks and would really appreciate the help!

I love Regal Angels too, especially the Indian Ocean and Red Sea ones, think Bali Aquarich has bred them before but never seen any on offer. Recently they bred C. Aurantia successfully but again haven’t seen any on offer.

By 5’ tank I mean 1.5m or 150cm, by 5.5’ I mean 165cm or 1.65m, by 6’ I mean 1.8m or 180cm.

To give you guys an idea of what prices are like in my part of the world, I can buy two CB Colin’s or Multibar Angels for the price of one wild caught Joculator from Australia.
I can’t wait to see the setup! Get an interruptus angel if that’s how you spell it haha

Haha. Do you want me to lose sleep for the next 10-20 years? Beautiful fish though. If I could find a captive bred one at a cheaper price than a wild one (as with the Clarions) that would make me consider one.

Wish I had the setup already!

I have 5 angel fishes in my 150. I have 1 Blue line, 2 female Mask Japanese Swallow tails. 1 female bellus and 1 Potter. All get along. They were all 2” when I got them at separate times. Blue line is 4” and swallows little smaller Potter and Bellus are 3”. Hard to fine and prices went up. Good luck. All are great eaters. Very healthy and hardy fish. 7914534F-61A1-4278-B115-C9364021B7DC.jpeg B4575040-C5D6-4792-B96E-E97EA62A80B7.jpeg E41C9090-280E-4529-9BCE-CCA97C97039B.png 9C2A67A0-D3B5-4C0C-971D-2A2F85D4A948.jpeg

For all you experienced angel keepers out there I am looking at some captive bred large angels, ideally 3-4. I have Majestic, Blue Line, Goldflake and Clarion available to me captive bred. How big do they usually top out in captivity for these 4 species, and what tank do I need to house them at adult size (ideally 3-4, Clarion is more iffy)?

Thought I’d ask here. Also how many of you mix or keep more than one pair of dwarf or large angels? How is it going and how big is your tank?
