My girl found this at bath&body works... and snagged it for me. Nice surprise for the beach/salt water theme we have in the bathroom.

Best part about it? It sprays air freshener on a timer. No skimmate smell in the loo ever again. Love it.

Just had the best octopus
of my life.

Of course the 1 hr trip to Kaizen for lunch wasnt the only reason we took a drive.

Looks in great shape. Snag used from a fellow reefer here for $200 less than a brand new one. Score.

Remaining items for sump build:

1. Overflow (prolly gonna go with a synergy ghost... I wanna splurge on it.

2. Return pump (most likely a 1900gph DC adjustable eFlux with controller)

3. Gate valves and plumbing for the custom manifold I have planned.

The "sump of shame" may be getting a facelift if I go this route... and it will have a true macroalgae DT-Fuge as a neighbor:

Otherwise, the SOS(sump of shame) will be traded for a 33g Long that will be baffled with acrylic for a more "traditional" 3 chamber...

But I'll be honest, I'm really leaning towards something like @najer 's "S" tank for a fuge. Macroalgae is beautiful...

Time will tell. Many more decisions to be weighed and hashed out.

Looks like that version is capable of 2500 gph.. send him a PM for me?

I'm looking to get about 1100gph or so, I tries doing some math, and as long as I manage to use 45° in my plumbing rather than 90°, I may be able to manage about 6-7x turnover.

The 16" ghost is exactly what I've been looking for actually. BRS had one open box for $140 two weeks ago. So 100 would be a steal.

I'm nervous. I run a window A/C on that room when it hits 77 outside. The entire room is wired on 1 circuit to the panel, 15amp breaker. (Directly bellow the tank)

I am gonna have to ask the guy I lease from if my buddy who is a master electrician and I could install a solo 20amp line to the panel and upgrade to GFCI at the plug. The AC and TANK cant run on the same circuit in the summer. I cannot live without AC, or the tank.

Fingers crossed he gives it a go.

Option B is to check the wire gauge on the circuit currently in place. If its 10 or 12 guage I can cheat and beef it up to a 30amp breaker and done deal. Without doing anything and then just buy a GFCI adapter for the outlet. (Yes I know I should already have one )

So ya definitely excitement, curved by spikes of anxiety and concern for proper planning with it being my 1st ever sump build. All DIY but that's how I roll.

Be sure to plumb to specs or you may encounter noise issues. Ive seen a few complaint threads and almost every time its not plumbed correctly. Mine runs silent pushing about 1000gph through it.

Hopefully I'll have the sump built and plumbed by the end of the month. The return pump will be purchased brand new. I have a guy that has an eFlux hookup to get me it at cost.
