Happy to say the 4 potters arrived alive and look good. Definitely stressed, but the bags they cane in were very large with plenty water. So far so good, but not outta the woods yet.

I ordered 2 right after you posted and but they only shipped one, a HUGEEEE one, probably a terminal male, which is a minus for me...It's in the QT now, laying on side when I left for work this morning. Hopefully it is getting better after the shipping ordeal.

The second picture show that you have 2 males. The red color spot on the dorsal fin is the key the tale sign. You may want to consider selling one of the two males or else you may have trouble. Good luck

So there are at least three of us ordered 4 each. I got two males also but the largest male was DOA. I did not think they have mine in enough water.
Good luck to both of you.

They go very quick. I also never ordered fish from DD before and have not seen a hooded fairy on any of my list in a while.

I have my LFS on the lookout for specific hooded. Only can have so many orange fish fish in my tank! I have another orange colored wrasse waiting for me after vacation!

No wonder they went so fast.
I wanted one, but will be rooting for you ( and the others).

Just out of curiosity, what were the sizes of each of the 4 you got?

Yeah, but more females too. There have been a few over the past few months. The problem is the masses what instant gratification on fish and colors and not everyone has patience needed to watch them grow so DD and LA take advantage and sell mature fish. The sell faster.

I think it comes even further up the supply change.....the divers. They probably are paid more for the terminal males so they focus on them. When you're 75' down and the light is filtered by the water the more drab females are also tougher to spot than the males.

They all look to be approx 4”. Honestly very healthy looking and more active than my first potters I had a while back. I have about 10 other wrasse I’m my 400 gallon now so I’m glad I have a few to put in at once. Only wrasse that concerns me is my Timor Wrasse, it’s approx 5” and seems to be the big dog of the wrasses. Other wrasses I have include Lineatus, Labouti, Leopard, checkerboard, Blue throat, cleaner.... I’m pretty sure I’m missing a couple..lol.

Oh, I'd kill ( not really) for a chance to get a couple healthy females in the 2" to 2-1/2" range.

I’ve spent the past 7 days going through every post on this.

What a beautiful fish! So much personality too!

You all rock

Additionally. I’m a bit confused on aggression tendencies. Does it just vary by individual?

Aggression is somewhat predictable by species, but can also vary by individual within a species. Sixline wrasses, for instance, have a strong reputation for being absolute jerks. I had one from a tank teardown that was twitchy as all get-out, but never tried to assault anyone - I got lucky with that guy.

I totally agree...I had a six line for 3 yrs....was great, then one day he snapped...so back to the fish store he went!
