Picked up this Splendid Pintail Wrasse up today from TSM Aquatics--It's nice to have one of the best (if not the best) LFS' in the country within driving distance. This is relatively low light picture, but u get the idea. Matt, at TSM, has several other wrasses on the way for me. It's such a great pleasure dealing with people who are at the top of the trade, when I am at the bottom of it. lol

Looks great. That's where I got my pintail. I love the white specks they display on the back. What other wrasses do you have coming? I'm waiting for a hooded flame from them.

Cool! I have a Black Leopard, Mccosker's, and Line Spot... among a few others.

Is there such thing as an ugly Fairy wrasse? The answer is no. Ugly Fairy wrasse is an oxymoron.
This Redfin Fairy was sent to me as a mistake. I already have a changing male Redfin from Petco. Now I have two male Redfin Fairy in my tank. They are fine with each other most of the time. Sometime they fight but in a large tank (320 gal) with a lot of wrasses like mine, they have not kill each other yet.

I replaced her at the weekend with this guy. I was torn in the shop between yellow halichores or melanurus wrasse. Went melanurus.

Flame wrasse has pop eye but cloudy. Thinking infection and not flukes. Was going to treat my dt with Epsom salt to help because I can’t catch yet.

anyone use Epsom salt? I have fragile wrasse like potters, vivien and others. How is Epsom salt with fragile wrasse?

Sorry to see that. I've read some of Jay's posts that epsom salt only works for freshwater fish. If it's popeye from injury it should heal on its own with good water quality and high quality food, adding selcon or vitachem also helps. Have you noticed any aggression from your other wrasses?

I feed lrs and use selcon but last night she was very stressed and not eating.
Don’t see what I would call aggression with a bunch of wrasse. Little chase every now and then. Flame is the smallest in tank. Long nose hawk will go for smaller wrasse if they are in lnh area and let their guard down. Chance lnh got her before other wrasse but unlikely.

Hawaii closed is making this harder on me lol.

Ugh tell me about it! I have a small flame wrasse too. She’s transitioning to male now so she’s squabbling with some of the others. I scrutinize over every little blemish she gets bc I know she’s the last one I’ll have.

Hope she fits in for you. I find small wrasse transport and acclimate better then medium or large.
I have a tiny rhomboid in qt tank because I’m pretty sure it would be one to many wrasse. Last one I added things got a little aggressive before settling.

Fun having wrasse that seem to be common with wrasse. Salt spray within 2’ of tank. And watching them get weird before bed.

Only problem I have is full grown potters chases his reflection or chasing a 2” meleagris nonstop. Meleagris never cares and won’t even budge now witch seems to be stressing the potters.

Thank you. She was about 1 1/4”- 1 1/2” in the picture. Now about 2 1/4”. Takes a beating all day but never blinks an eye. Her name is little storm trooper. Leopards became my favorite. They seem to not get feelings hurt like fairies
