The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

As this is my first attempt with paracheilinus in my personal tank, do they take a similar amount of time as Cirrhilabrus to establish or is possibly it longer?

I found the Cyaneus in his mucous cocoon. He is missing a few filaments and only has 2 but I do believe he will regrow them as the dorsal isn’t damaged. Will get a photo or Atleast attempt one when he’s out.

Mine would hate my tank haha, I have 2 urchins that destroy coralline and a foxface and bristletooth that will wreck algae along with my 5 old wrasses, can’t say if the Flasher will eat the sheets or not yet.
Every now and then I catch one of the wrasses sampling the seaweed. The melanarus really likes yanking nassarius snails out of the sand, so they only come out at night when he's asleep.

My nassarius do the same thing, most likely due to my Jade although I seem to have all 4 still roaming around somewhere.

That meleagris is beautiful!
How has she been for you?
So far so good. I haven't had her for long. A couple of weeks. So far feeding on frozen mysis and sometimes PE mysis pellets. Also likes Aqua Edible Super Eggs. I think I found out where it sleeps tonight. Saw a puff of sand in the back corner. No trace of the fish of course but I think that is where she is sleeping

Usually a puff of sand is an easy indicator for this genus. Halichoeres not so much haha, my Jade enjoys pecking the sand and moving it around when he’s awake. I love it with my iridis though as when he vanishes and there’s a puff of sand I can tell that’s where he’ll sleep.

How many wrasses do you have? Jades are very pretty.

I have in total, 8. I have 3 sand sleepers and 5 rock sleepers. 2 of them are in my nano and growing out but the others are in my 4’ and loving it. So far there’s been nothing change in the hierarchy with the flasher and it wasn’t a ticking time bomb about to go off when I added the flasher luckily.
All 8 are;
Jade Wrasse (Halichoeres chloropterus)
Radiant Wrasse (Halichoeres iridis)
Blue Star Leopard Wrasse (Macropharyngodon bipartitus)
Blue Flasher Wrasse (Paracheilinus cyaneus)
Both variants of Lubbock’s fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus lubbocki)
Black Margin Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus melanomarginatus)
Naoko’s Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus naokoae).

I found the Cyaneus but getting a decent photo is almost impossible. Here’s a photo of his head (And some of the life on my dead Staghorn frag).

I also got a decent side photo although he seems more stressed but that’s most likely due to the clown going at him (Everyone else has been ignoring him).

That Jade can get very large. How do they do together? What are they eating?

Yeah, the Jade is pushing 5 inch currently. As for how they do together, the only guys that flash at eachother so far have been the two Lubbock’s. The Blue Flasher as it’s new hasn’t been out since yesterday when it first went in but that’s expected.

I haven’t seen these guys in a few years so I had to get it……juvenile Diamond tail…

That looks more like a female mccoskeri or carpenteri to me. The red doesn’t seem strong enough for a Attenuatus female.

Finally got a shot, not very good of my Pink Streak. She is very camera shy
They’re a stunning species just hard to get past shipping unfortunately.

Similar time frame in my experience. My Cyaneus took a couple days to get comfortable. It tried to come out sooner, but the M. meleagris took too much interest in it. Within a week it was part of the pack though, begging for pellets like the rest of them.
