if you guys had to choose one wrasse to be in your tank what would it be?

This was tough, so many wrasses I enjoy keeping and so many more I want to keep. If I could only choose one I’d keep a black leopard wrasse. Great little pest hunters without the butthead attitude.

I guess if it became illegal to only have one wrasse it would be one I already have C. earlei.

I think mine would be either a M. choati or P. attenuatus

Would we have to own it currently? If not then mine would be:
Anampses chrysocephalus (I hold a grudge on Hawaii.)
If we do have to own it currently, mine would be:
Macropharyngodon bipartitus. Macropharyngodon can be so bold towards you, especially when they start out in a small tank and get used to you.

After a long rethink of this and leaving 3 wrasse i would love. I have to say the one I’d keep would be this guy no matter what.

Anampses geographicus, they’re beautiful and I’m debating on trying to find one since they’re a larger species so could possibly be a more boisterous species.

That's a pretty cool looking wrasse now that I see a good picture of it. The pictures I got from a quick google search weren't wow, but that on the other hand is pretty nice

Beautiful H. iridis! Is the other H. chlorpterus? If so keep an eye on him as he matures. I've had two friends that had to remove them when they got large because of them killing their tank mates. Of course they're all individuals.

Yeah, this is a 2 year old specimen and is transitioning. I’ve been warned of their aggression - I’ve also witnessed some of it. So far he’s been chasing the iridis but as you can see in the photos, the iridis just puts her fins up at the Jade whenever he swims by.

Can't wait for tomorrow. I should be getting 6 Macropharyngodon cyanoguttatus and a Halichoeres cosmetus tomorrow. Finger crossed that the M cyanoguttatus are really cyanoguttatus and not another type of Macropharyngodon that got misidentified. Also supposed to get some Macropharyngodon kuiteri but I think they are going to be ornatus. They are coming from Sri Lanka and last time I checked kuiteri weren't found in Indian Ocean and Sri Lanka area

Looks to me like a VERY washed out Aquamarinus

It's skinny, and juvi. Labeled as a bluesided. I was thinking possibly c. lyukyuensis, or maybe c. cyanopleura.

Quite blue, with pink accents.

This is what I assume it is, except highly washed out.

That's a mature adult though. The one in question is certainly not in that color pattern currently, even severely washed out. The tail shape is different too... I don't know if that changes during maturing.

It's at the LFS and under daylight T5 bulbs.

Definitely not cyanopleura or lyukyuensis as it’s the wrong colours even if it’s washed out.
It’s extremely hard to tell when a wrasse is washed out and even then, looks to be a female. The black spot at the caudal fin is my indicator of it being a female or transitional phase wrasse.

Just throwing my 2 cents in... I agree that it's transitional... and likely C. cyanopleura.

Man, none of the "M cyanoguttatus" made it, and they looked like male M bipatus, the H cosmetus did make it tho

That's two of the "Macropharyngodon cyanoguttatus". I'm 90% it's a male M bipatitus but a few more set of eyes doesnt hurt
