I don’t come across them often but have seen a couple in the past. Have you got plans for one in the future? If so try see if anyone online can find one for you or an LFS.

I unfortunately live outside the states and Europe. However I will be trying with my lfs to order another shipment from the Mauritius. even though I don’t think that it’s gonna happen anytime soon.

Wonder if anyone will have a recent photo of their Jewelled Leopard or Gold Nugget Wrasse. Or even any of the rare ones that look similar to or are Macropharyngodon.

We have a cleaner and a melanurus Wrasse. Both model citizens and our cleaner wrasse does a great job with our tangs and angels.

Well seems my little melgris just won't stop chasing the moyers!

I got new lights, and have been lights out for the last 2 days while I figured out the programming. SO the melgris has been asleep in the sand for the last 2 days. Well the moyers came out, swam around the tank, and got along very well with everyone else. You wouldn't even know she was a skiddish fish with the melagris sleeping.

Got lights working saturday, so yesterday when I got home from work, no moyers to be found. But the melagris was out and about.

Seems the moyers has been hiding within my duncan. She does come out and eat, and the melgris will leave her alone during feeding, but as soon as the food is gone, it's back to chasing.

Might try and catch the melgris(I will not be tearing the tank down to catch her), and throwing her in an acclimation box for a couple days. The moyers is a very boisterous if the dang melagris would just stop chasing her. She stays up all day, and hangs to one corner of the tank. She will venture out past that corner, but as soon as the melagris sees her, it's on until the moyers get out of her sight again. It doesn't seem to be aggression(no nipping), just chasing. If the moyers would grow a set, and stand her ground, I think the melgris will leave her be.

Certainly not an ideal situation for the moyers, but she's eating and putting on quite a bit of weight. She does swim around, just doesn't stray far from the corner, and her duncan.

If I cannot catch the melagris, I will leave them be, and hopefully they will eventually work it out.

Jewled are beautiful in person and pictures are spot on. Quality marine wholesaler has them and Viviens. Both I see all over fore sale in USA past month

Does the Moyer’s seem bothered by being chased. If not I wouldn’t worry much. My Potters chased a little Melagris for over a year before he would give Melagris a break. Other fish chased the Melagris also.

Heck the melegris chased the much larger negrosensis for a while too until the black turned on her and chased the melagris. Then and only then did the melagris stop chasing.

Very similar to my two Halichoeres then - They’ll chase eachother and have a display of fins then just go the opposite way to eachother. Then every so often in the evenings there’s a mass flashing scene. No matter what genus or complex they all flash at eachother.

Fairy’s a little chase can go wrong fast from stress but sand sleepers tend to not be bothered.

Quick pic of the moyers. She is very camera shy, whenever I get near the tank, she swims to the other side. She certainly has not gotten used to me(the giver of food!) yet.

Soon you will be the food monster lol. Straight from ocean to me they fear people. Ones that been cuddled and handled a lot are friendly. My choats came right up to me within minutes.

I wish I had room for another “large” wrasse, I’d be getting a black or a choats in a heartbeat but unfortunately I don’t have the tank for one.

Tried my best to get a full body shot of the Blue star but she just didn’t stop trying to get the food!
Now to attempt a few shots of the larger guys… fingers crossed the jade won’t just swim away.

Had to google images. I have never seen a male M. Negrosensis. Kind of hoping mine might turn male now.
