All non leopards male now. They transition fast for me. Leopard males one choats and one in question. We see early sighs of transition but guess I’m the Guinea pig. Potters was but unfortunately he isn’t a problem now. Will eventually replace him.great pictures lately!
blacks won’t transition in captivity and if she does you are the one that got lucky.
Blacks, Kuiter’s, Viviens, choats don’t in captivity. Blue star most likely, Potters will melagris 50/50.
Thankyou! Really been trying my hardest to get the phone camera to focus at the right times and now I figured out the clue. Been trying to get more photos of the wrasses I don’t really mention but I own recently. The black margin is hard as he only really has the nice red anal fin then the rest is a deep green body.
I have had to deal with the delay too many times and I now learnt to take Atleast 10 photos of one fish… 600+ photos later and I have the perfect photos of each of my fish haha.
Funny that you brought up C. scottorum, my C. melanomarginatus was sold as a transitional male aussie scotts. Only when 6 months passed and he didn’t gain any more red or orange/yellows in the dorsal fin did I get confused. Then I started to research the Scott’s wrasse and found out it was in the scottorum complex and one other definitely identified species was in there and looked very similar. Then I got the definite ID from SaltyT.
I put all my imported fish thru roughly a month long qt, 2 weeks copper/choloroquine phosphate, 2 week general cure (metro+prazi), and 1 week observation at the end. Has worked out so far with the only dead being fish that came in very bad shape.
Same, I prefer chloroquine phosphate (CP) but wrasses are hit or miss with CP so I just go with copper power, which has better success than ionic copper and not as much risk for wrasse than CP
