My LFS calls it a Christmas Wrasse, but pretty sure it's a juvie Red Lined Wrasse aka Halichoeres Biocellatus. Either way, gorgeous fish and happy to have one that is healthy:

Yeah, that’s a female/juvenile Halichoeres biocellatus.

I probably should’ve mentioned this before, some will be much pricier than others will be. The femininus is probably the most expensive at around 400.

If you find it at $400, buy it. I usually see them for $1200-1700.

Over here they’re usually £400 which is around $450-500. So I just took a guess at the pricing they could possibly be.

I’m at a wedding but will try and get pictures. I have full size choati and potters. Rest are smaller

Does anyone have any pictures of their large fully grown leopard wrasses? Would love to see them

I added an Orange back about 3 weeks ago. A good sized one. The first day he was out but got harassed a little. The second day he was gone. I figured he died.

8 days later he came out and is alive and well. Eating great and no one else in the tank is bothering him. Wow, I though I had lost it.

3 days ago he is gone. humm. I wonder if I will see it again?

How are Orange Backs compared to the other Wrasses on the list? Are they similar to other Cirrhilabrus?
I think that was my wife's favorite from Dr Reef's page.

They’re more aggressive Cirrhilabrus but aren’t as vile as some others like C. scottorum can be.

They should get along, especially in the tank size you have. You could get a bunch of others in there too.

Normal behavior. My Vivien has disappeared for up to 2 weeks before popping out again. Your wrasse will disappear less and less as it gets settled in.

The red velvet can be a bully, especially towards the lineatus. I would drop that one. If you want some orangy-red look at a magma, hooded flame, or pintail (isosceles).

I would worry much. Do you have other wrasse? If so any pushing should stay between the wrasse.

Terrible pictures but it’s what I got. I’ll work on getting better ones of the choati. Potters always flashes but when phone is out he lowers the front of the dorsal the red spot on front dorsal is my favorite part

Thank you but Was. After 4-5 tanks and collecting very special stock I year 2022 came along. It’s started with daily life black cloud then rushing tank maintenance I startled Potters. Jumped 3-4 foot before hitting a tank. Show over in minutes. Fast foward couple months I moved all fish to new 220 finally. Achiles got few spots of ich. Wasn’t to concerned but then in a couple weeks I lost all wrasse except flame and trio of choati. But tangs are good except a gem tang that I suspect was the problem.

Beautiful fish. They can be so hard to get photos of. Mine always hide when I get my phone out. The only good photos I have of them are when they were in the acclimation box. Haha
