In terms of females I think this is the difference between the two. I’m not talking about coloring but with the dorsal fin. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Yes, they differ in their geographic locations, finnage, and coloration. I discuss this in my article, but the short version is Marisrubri's dorsal fin has a nice high arch that extends to the caudal fin unlike Bipartitus. Bipartitus males have more "pale" areas of coloration unlike Marisrubri males.

Searching online there also seems to be a difference in sizes, with the Marisrubri being bigger?

Based on what you guys said it looks more like a Bipartitus to me. But then again I’m new to this leopard wrasse identification.
Yeah, the dorsal is saying Bipartitus but where she was collected is throwing me off as I believe Bipartitus is mainly found on the eastern side of the Indian Ocean.
Thanks for the help. I‘ll be on the look for these signs if I end up going for the leopard.
Hopefully you find one and if you do we need photos :)

This is in fact the difference, the Marisrubri has a flatter dorsal that’s more arched towards the back. The Bipartitus seems to have the “crest” at the front of the dorsal (A better example of the crest would be in M. choati).

Any wrasses and you can reach out to us for IDing them :)
Trust me, female wrasses that aren’t Macropharyngodon are a pain to ID first try for many. Especially females from Cirrhilabrus - My LFS is still trying to ID a female they have in and every time I go I try to figure it out, it’s still unknown what species it truly is.

Your leopard is bipartitus. And I love a challenge! Post a pic of the unknown female cirrhilabrus for us to take a crack at it!

I’m heading there on Saturday so I’ll hopefully get a photo of the wrasse is still there :)
Also, last time I saw the wrasse he was a flashing male, when they first got it in it was a female. Supposedly when he flashes he is a White body with bright red dorsals. I thought I had a photo from a while ago (I’ll still continue to try find it though).

Best thing I can describe this wrasse as looking like is Cirrhilabrus rubripinnis but when displaying his body is white and his fins go a beautiful red. You have no idea how tempting it is haha.

Also, these two photos are what confused me the most with my Leopard. These two look more like Masirubri however the more recent one looks more like Bipartitus. If only there was more ways to tell instead of having to wait for her to become a male.

Actually, this is now known as Cirrhilabrus aquamarinus, the three wrasses we once knew as Solorensis have now been split up and only one retained the name of solorensis. The second was given the name of Chalasai.
Interesting. I just read that. He's a Kool wrasse. LFS sold it to may as a tri color..

In the early planning phase for possible upgrade, looking at 3' or 4' tank. Which of these for 3' tank? Pick (2)

Cirrhilabrus isosceles
Cirrhilabrus exquisitus
Cirrhilabrus rhomboidalias
Cirrhilabrus lubbocki
Cirrhilabrus naokoa
