The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

There was another one that I can't remember anything about it other than it had a bright white nose. Not sure if it was a natural coloration or some kind of wound.
Oh yeah. It’s definitely real. What do you think I just threw some latin together?!

I hadn’t realized previously but this wrasse wears a fedora.

Playing around I got this:

I joined the wrasse posse today! Picked up a beautiful Pink Margin fairy today. Lights are low so no pictures (sorry) but she was eating straight away. Bonus is my wife loves her.

First of many I think.
Welcome to the posse.....

There is no going back now.....
I recently found out. I need 3 more - 1 for the 110g, and 2 for the 55g.

@Slocke you laugh... Renard, my exquisite jumped from the 110... found petrified, LITERALLY after saying I haven't had a jumper in that tank in about a year.....
Stupid Murph...

It is either a female or juvenile male. Looks like this photo but has the red margin on its tail.

That’s a transitional male by the sounds of it :)

Could we get some more pictures of your wrasse pls :D I see you’ve got what looks like a pair of Macropharyngodon meleagris and is that a C. scottorus peeking on the left there?
lol yeah let me try to get some. Couple different leopards a mccoskers and a blue side. Blue side swims like a whale across the tank back and forth all day lol

when my blue side kicks the bucket I’ll get a naoko.
@jason247365,
How big is that tank? You don't have to wait for the Blue side to kick the bucket. The male Naoko is so very beautiful. Most actively flashing fish you can have (at least in my tank). These are two different fish had. After the first on passed, I just have to get the second one when I have a chance. They are very hardy easy to keep, but very rewarding fish. About the shourt life, reefers accepted that when we try to keep Flasher and Fairy Wrasses.

Just stretching in the AM. Notice the two pelvic fins in the same position, mouth open "jawning"

Flashing, mouth close and pelvic fins one in front of the other and iridescent colors.

Enjoy watching these two.

If I ever go wrasse only in my nano, a pair of Tanakai is on the list!
I love the two beige species as they’re similar but they’re just different enough to enjoy both in separate ways :)

How long should I expect the new wrasse to hide in the rock?

He comes out to eat but retreats into a nook right after. This is really just day 2 in the tank so may need some time.
On day 2 you should expect hiding, give him a week maybe 2 and he should be out and about :)

Hard to beat that combination. Pink streak and possums are a dynamic duo!

Great picture!

Thank, these two make an interesting pair. Enjoy watching their interactions and both fit nicely in my nano. Have a short 1min YT clip I need to post.

Agree, I had a “white banded” which I get confused if the Latin name is Tanakai or Albofasciata. I know one has a line over the eye and the other does not.

I been looking for another one and stumble on a site that had a picture of it. Decided to order it but received a Nigropinatta . After looking at the site again and closely they just the wrong picture but was listed as Wetmorella Nigropinnata. It has grown on me and like the little guy but if I find either a Tanakai or Albofaciata I would likely pick it up.

Yeah I thought that too. I’ve tried lol 2 Solar wrasses down now and another that was pink like mcCoskers. Forget the name. I think he will dominate them but maybe with a tank he will act differently. Don’t think so though.
