I’ve noticed that if I don’t flip over astreas that fall down on the sandbed I end up with empty shells the following morning. Any idea what could be going on?

Update: No need for a Halichoeres. I found the sexy on top of my scoly again. Look at what it did to my poor scoly (one of my oldest corals.. fine, just means ~1.5yr old, but still!):

This is her now:

Yes, I fed her to my rainbow BTA. Got my 15" tweezer and caught her on her RFA. I tried to see if she would survive, but she was clearly crushed in the midsection, so the BTA had an expensive dinner.:worried-face:

At least I don't have to get an H. ornatissimus just to keep my meat corals safe.

Wrasse are best caught in a trap. They are too inquisitive for their own good.

Caught the lunare yesterday evening after leaving the trap in the tank for a day. Took about 5 minutes. He’s now in a big acclimation box. To late for my lubbock’s he beat to death. My mistake. So as a replacement would a carpenters or mcoskers go well with an adorned, exquisite and soon to be Melanarus?

Maybe someone else can answer as I'm about to do similar with blue flashers. My plan is to get medium sized ones and give them a while in the acclimation box.

So how to make a flasher wrasse flash what do i need would any of my current fish make it happen or do i need another flasher

Either one of those flashers should be fine. I recommend using an acclimation box when adding new wrasses to established wrasses.

Lunares are highly aggressive I'm sorry to hear about your poor lubbock's, what did Dr. Reef say about sending the wrong wrasse? Hopefully other people haven't gotten a Lunare instead of a melanurus... Ek!

He initially said I was welcome to keep it and offered me 15% off next purchase. I informed him that I could not keep it as it would get far to large and aggressive for my tank and that I wanted what I ordered. I even offered to cover shipping as I need one last fish but he already created an order to send the Melanarus and cover shipping at his expense. He said one of his pickers must have grabbed the wrong fish as they can look similar. I get that I suppose.

I wondered that as well when I looked to see if he even sold lunares. To my surprise he did not.
