The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

Here’s a few terrible pictures. I’m almost certain it’s not a male. It has no striping on it’s anal fin. I guess it could still be transitioning? If so, I have no idea what that looks like.

I know! I should have changed my light settings to get better pictures, but I figured those should have been good enough for IDing male/female.

I always try to my wrasses as juveniles when possible, so when I saw this little leopard I had t get it. I’m pretty sure it’s a M. Negrosensis. I never seen one this small before…..

Beautiful M. cyanoguttatus.
It seems these guys are much rarer in the US than over here. Although I guess I’m just lucky as I’ve worked in 2 LFSs and both have specialised in rarer fish and not ‘beginner’ fish like most LFSs over here do.

I’m still waiting on my second Leopard (well, if we count Gold Nuggets as leopards 3rd). Which will hopefully come home tomorrow, although knowing my luck with leopards so far something will have happened which caused most of them to die off and one ends up sold haha.

Anyone else remember exactly at what time Aaron had this as his profile pic?……I’ll wait ;)
I’ve had so many profile pic changes recently haha, my guess is October as even I don’t remember!

The reality of captive hemitaeniatus is it’s either looking too light like this;

Or way too dark like this;

Every photo you see of them looks overly edited or theyre fresh from the ocean and are only going to live 2 years.

Which is why I think the best species African of Paracheilinus is between the Piscilineatus and the Attenuatus ;)

Is it normal for a wrasse that is turning female get aggressive towards its reflection? I have a Dusky margined wrasse that is turning male from female, every time I come by the tank, I see them flaring at their reflection and trying to fight it. is this normal?

It’s absolutely normal, he doesn’t realise it’s his reflection and thinks it’s instead another male. My guys seem to have gotten used to the reflections on one side of the tank and I’m sure your guy will :)

I've been practicing my fish taking.. Snapped a decent one of my Naoko Wrasse, still need to polish up on my skills though!
