Awesome photos. I love seeing them display, but this fish has been particularly hard to photograph for me.

Agreed! What a pretty fish.
I've been looking for a "green wrasse" that's not ugly, and this is by far my favorite

I'll warn you its big, aggressive, and seems to lose most of its color as it ages. I personally think the sea grass wrasse is stunning but I understand its a required taste.

She is soooooo lazy! She sleeps in later than I do on the weekends, lol. I've only managed to catch her waking up and burrowing again once (she's very adept at stealth).

What's funny is that a lot of my wrasses (especially the jade wrasse) now eat seaweed along with the other tangs and angels. Not sure if they enjoy it as much but they seem to like being part of the "pack".

My wrasses love the seaweed too! My foxface goes crazy for seaweed and they all just wait around him hoping for a piece. As soon as he swims away their all in there going to town, they are little eating machines lol

Any more picture of your "no longer green wrasse" (Halichoeres chloropterus)
It is hard to find a mature terminal male picture of this species. I would love to see a picture of your mature Male Green Wrasse.

I’ll try get a photo in a bit, he’s gorgeous now he’s no longer the in your face green of the juveniles.

Awesome photos. I love seeing them display, but this fish has been particularly hard to photograph for me.

Same! Its too fast and blends in with the back of my tank which I think confuses my camera. I have spent many days sitting by the tank trying to photograph it. Finally some success yesterday.



Also how much would you pay for this terribly misidentified picture of Thalassoma quinquevittatum :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

Day 4 of adding the yellow coris and still no sight of him, really hope he pulls through. Mccoskers came out to eat quickly then went right back to hiding, guessing he is still recovering from trying to jump out

Ok finally got this lovely into the big tank from the cube. Help me find another good utility wrasse that wont get so big. Whatever I get needs to consume flatworms & bristleworms.

SIGH... I'm seriously considering a sixline.

Day 4 of adding the yellow coris and still no sight of him, really hope he pulls through. Mccoskers came out to eat quickly then went right back to hiding, guessing he is still recovering from trying to jump out

Is the yellow coris just off schedule or no appearances @ all. Any bullying?

No I made sure to match the qt schedule very close to my dt tank schedule. I saw it very quickly the day after I added it, the 3 other wrasses just went to see him and then went right back into the sandbed

3.5-4" or so would be the ultimate max. The argus I moved was pushing 5". It doubled in size quick.

I can finally post here now that I got my first wrasse!!! Even though he is just a cleaner I love him! All my fish love him too.

GL with it, they can be fickle as hell and will pester fish a bit.

I know I Hype this fish too much and this is mostly speculation but I think the ultimate pest hunter may be the dragon and sea grass wrasse. The sea grass is a similar size to most halichoeres. My dragon is the only fish that hunts for sport and actually goes after pests hidden under rocks but maybe thats just mine.

IDK though. I don't keep wrasse for pest control.

I misunderstood. I thought you were wanting something for the bigger tank not the smaller. If it’s the only wrasse then maybe a lined wrasse may be the best. I like the mystery wrasse personally but sixline is the go to of course.
