The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

Went down the road to my other LFS. She has been there for 3 weeks. Told them to give me 20% off and a breeder box, and little miss is coming home with me.

Each year I become progressively softer, but I just couldn’t leave her there.

Will post better pictures at home

Just put her in the acclimation box. Fed some mysis just to see if she’d eat and she snagged two or three. She’s little, and super spooked.

It’s kinda funny, even after 20+ years of all of this stuff there’s still that super concerned parent with a newborn feeling every time adding a new fish.

I totally agree with you.. Good looking fish

How many of you have kept lysmata cleaner shrimp with halichoeres or leopards? @i cant think how’s that harlequin doing?
Never had a problem. One of my skunks just passed away after about 18 months and replaced it on the weekend. My fire has been with me for about 18 months too.

Did you introduce at night when wrasses were asleep?
Nope I’ve never seen any fish go after my shrimp.
Obviously this is my reef safe tank which has a few medium/large Halichoeres wrasse but that’s the most not reef safe. My other tank would rip them apart.

Even my flame hawks don’t care about my cleaners, they actually let the cleaners clean them sometimes. I took a risk when I got the two of them and I’m happy I didn’t have to choose one or the other

Well you know how we reefers operate. I was concerned about my choates stressing over the moved lobo that I had to get another one:)

Good that you did that for the fish.

The Harlequin is doing her job. albeit I’ve not seen her yet this week as I was away until Friday. I know she’s in there as the star population is slowly decreasing.

I have 8 shrimp altogether over both tanks - the nano has 3 and the 4’ has 5 shrimp. The 8 shrimp I have are;
3x Lysmata amboinensis (Skunk Cleaner Shrimp)
1x Stenopus scuttelatus (Golden Dwarf Boxer Shrimp)
1x Hymenocera picta (Harlequin Shrimp)
1x Lysmata debellius (Fire Shrimp)
1x Alpheus randalli (Randall’s Pistol Shrimp)
1x Lysmata wurdemanii (True Peppermint Shrimp)

Not a single one got bothered. The only issue I had was when introducing a Pistol Shrimp to my 4’ tank and I didn’t do it late enough at night so the wrasses (mostly the Iridis) munched it. I plan to try again soon though.
