There are 86 species of tang across 6 genera. All are roughly the same shape, all are fairly large, fairly aggressive, and with one exception (achilles) are colorful but not crazy colorful.

There are over 600 species of wrasse with 81 genera. There are peaceful and aggressive wrasse, big and small, long wrasse and flat wrasse, bland wrasse and super colorful wrasse. However the best thing about them is they generally get along unlike any other type of fish. I easily keep 10+ in a medium tank.

I would love to get several for my IM50g. I know I want a yellow coris but not sure what other small peaceful one to get. Do you suggest adding them all at once? I only have 1
small vanderbuilt chromi in the tank and some snails/blue legged hermits.

Collecting Johnsoni wrasses, North Kwajalein Atoll just inside the lagoon, only practical to access during a certain tide. You can see the break in the waves separating the lagoon from ocean side.

Some balteatus and rhomboidalis mixed in.

Wrasse are generally pretty good. I always suggest an acclimation box even if I don’t always do it myself. Possum wrasse, pink streaked, maybe a leopard wrasse. I’m not sure how many fish would work in a 50.

If Babi and miff does ok then adding one more should work. I thought about getting all three when I got the other two. Didn’t want too much pink. At the time o was still thinking a trio of viviens.

How’s this of my Flavidorsalis? I need more photos… Maybe Monday will be a day of watching the wrasses and getting photos.

Hopefully if I get the upgrade to 5’ I’ll have a few more wrasses on the list. Roseafascia is by far a dream but maybe with my now more boisterous wrasses it could work. Then again, no wrasses are popping out at me at the LFS (albeit they don’t have many wrasses at all). My wrasse gang has been down a bit as I’m still waiting on a choats to emergent. However the Chiseltooth is growing on me and I have my own SPS system so it’s a possibly.
