The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

With rubricephalus I’ve seen young males but the fish in general comes in rarely.
I’ve also seen females come in but again, this fish is a rare species to come in (Although it’s not technically rare and is more uncommon).
Wow I've never heard of females being exported next time you see females you must take a photo for us!

Everyone I ask to get look at me weird. They have that look like why you want that wrasse. Think they don’t bring them in as they want wrasse that look like a rainbow and sell fast.

Absolutely, although as you’ve probably found out, even finding males is a pita…

For now a photo of my prised piece will have to do :)
And I promise I’ll try get another photo of him on Friday.

Hopefully you come across one in the near future.

This boy displays during feeding for a split few seconds and has set off the fini and aqua. Although a lot of the displays I’ve seen so far were started by the Carpenteri.

I’ve seen several rubricephalus but all very large males. Thus why I’ve never gotten one.
Same. Years ago I heard there was only one collector of them in Indonesia, but not sure if that's still the case.

Wednesday shot of the QT wrasses

Baby magma is just poking her head as if to say ‘what are you doing?’

although this confirms that Baby fairies are the most adorable fish you can have.

I pick the worst times to photograph my nano… So ignore the grittiness of the photos. Here’s my baby Isosceles, he’s about 1/2” smaller than my Leopard.

I've had a few chances, but I'm passing for now. Right now I'm focusing on getting wrasses I've never kept before.

Baby fairy’s are adorable and very hearty and will be able to put up with jerks. I always say smaller females the better with fairy’s.
They do have the awkward teenager growing in their body look

Also, can we start a partition to call the aquamarinus the Aqua Fairy Wrasse over the Red Headed Solon?

This is a fish you have to see in person. That iridescent blue outline with a dark body is a great look
Terrible pics but not going to stress them out with camera or me. New fish start with building a positive bond with them like any animal. While my fish are in holding/qt I stay away from them. I feed then walk away and not watch them eat. Only positive reactions. They learn I bring food. Once that is established then I can start to spend time with them

Put brine in the tank and look who came out to eat. Not bad. Fish was delivered to reef exclusive then re bagged and shipped to me. Not what I like for wrasse but it was best option as sitting at reef exclusive is stressful for them if they hold.

I'm drooling on my phone screen haha
Drool in the tank so I don’t have to top off!

I will feel better in three days. Then a week. After two weeks then I don’t worry about them passing. If they do they were sick, stressed or too thin to bring back. Stress and lack of nutrition. Is checked off.

Question for USA people. If you can buy wrasse would you rather have them conditioned? Eating, and ready to be shipped and acclimate in your tank easier
Conditioned and treated with prazi?
Conditioned treated with prazi and 2 weeks copper?
Price would be the same for either option

Just prazi for me

Prazi and copper, although my preference is to also feed bendazole and metronidazole--that said, I've never QT'd myself and only had others QT for me, so I'm not versed on sensitivities of wrasses with these treatments.
