The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

Not really looking to ellininate anything at the moment. I just like to keep a fish that will eat bugs and small flatworms if needed. I keep a sixline in my other tanks that are larger. I hadn't thought about a damsel. They have some springers at a lfs that have been there a long time and look healthy :thinking-face:

EDIT: My memory is bad :zany-face: I forgot I had a springers in there at first but pulled it when rescaped and its in the basement 40g now.

Had one and never saw it. Was in a 40g breeder with two baby clowns that stayed up top and the wrasse hid in a corner and never came out. I moved it into a tank all its own with no other fish and it hid in corner with a peppermint shrimp and I never saw it. I'm looking for a utilitarian fish but still would like to see it once in a while without having to search for it with a flashlight lol.
Might be due to the clowns. My pinkies are out all the time and come up to me, but when the clowns were in the tank it was a totally different environment.

You could try a different lined wrasse like an 8-line or 4-line to keep it interesting! I think Pseudocheilinus tetrataenia is a great looking wrasse and might be fine in the 20gal.

The clowns where babies not even bonded and lever left the upper corner of the tank. Even when I moved the pink streak to a tank all by itself it never came out. My yellow striped possum exhibited the same behaviour in several different tanks as well as being alone in one

What do they eat? Maybe try the CBB approach with some tasty foods and establish yourself as the God of Food for the pinky/possum?

You still have the pinky and possum, or are we talking past tense?

My diamond tail was at it today!! Full displays all day, this is just one from this evening. I wish I could’ve gotten a photo of the one he did during the white light.

Love when they flair their fins like that, and the way they strut around. Very entertaining!

Yes!! They are so funny watching, they’re like small dogs trying to be dominant over larger dogs.
This guy especially has risen from a <1 inch male to this gorgeous 3 inch “supermale” and well, is now trying to boss around some of my larger wrasses, him and the radiant have been trying to take on the big dominant male aquamarinus and failing so far.

I wish I had been recording for even just a few minutes earlier as they have all been going for it, huge just displays of colour have been going off all over the tank, especially from my Aquamarinus, Attenuatus and the Iridis (the top 3 in the hierarchy).

a little 5 Bar Mystery Wrasse

Mystery’s are a favourite of mine, I have a 4th tank in the plan for SPS and think I may need a wrasse in that tank. Maybe a mystery will eventually come home.
Or, someone will stop my wrasse addiction from growing any further than it already has :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

I hear you, we ordered 2! One for our show tank and one for the people :)

Crickets in this thread. Vivien out for a cruise. She missed her bryopsis garden.

This’ll be my next wrasse I add if I don’t get any more pencils before I get another.

Yours was the one that made me want one in the first place, and it’s just making me want to source another!

Yes. Sandbed. Very easy-going fish. Easy to keep.
Unless you do what I did and mess up the introduction into a tank filled with wrasses - my next one will probably be going into the 5 foot but having a mirror and very close eye on.

I still have the possum. Its in the 330.7 living in the rocks. I have to look for it to see it and it doesn't come out to eat but will grab good that floats by. It's fat and appears to be hunting in all of the rock from end to end. The pinky is mia after swapping some rock so I assume It must have been inside a rock I removed and I didn't see it.
I went ahead and added a little bitty sixline the other day. It will be the only fish in the tank so I think it will be ok. If not I have a 40g breeder I can move it to. Its eating frozen and cruising around the entire tank so I'm optimistic.
