Haha. He is innocent. Copper killed the snails that were hiding. Recently the leopard found the shells after over a year to show I messed up

Okay, I’ve been fairly dead on the wrasse department. Unfortunately I’ve lost a few wrasses over the course of the last month or so.

The ones I’ve lost or are MIA are;
Nahackyi Fairy (the hardest one as I doubt I’ll come across another any time soon)
Splendens Pencil male (My Kaleidos is a bit feisty so it’s now trying to get more female pencils from that complex to even out the male to female ratio)
Twisted Tamarin (I’m taking a break on this species as unless I get a larger specimen, the juveniles we source just don’t work long term)
Rubricaudalis Flasher (this guy was old age and I knew it was going to happen soon - which is why the flavianalis came in perfect timing)

And, a quick shot of some of the wrasses, how many can you spot? I think I found them all but there could be a couple in that photo that even I haven’t spotted.

She’s still going strong! Must be on her 5th-6th year now, although she has gained the confidence to go throwing corals around in the coral tray she lives in. On Sunday, I watched her launch a chalice (on a fairly heavy tile) a whole foot across the system.

A lot of the wrasse I was looking at they claim they can’t find females but I assume that means shorter lifespan.

I haven't done anything there, but Harry's Marine seems to have nahacky's quite often.

10 years with some being shorter. What you looking for? Females are usually available but most order males as colors can be better with a higher price tag. Female wrasse tend to get along better, acclimate better and deal with stress better. Fairy’s more so. Younger the better. The industry is about money and not what’s better nor do most even know.
I myself would get a male except rare occurrences knowing my stock list and where the fish comes from and how long he will guarantee its life after delivery

It varies from 2-3 years to 10 depending on the genus of wrasse and specific species.
Fairies and Flashers I’ve found are quite shortly lived with 2-3 years for “supermales” and 5-6 years for younger males.
But Leopards, Halichoeres and Pencils are all longer lived and get closer to the 7-10 year lifespan if they settle correctly. They can be a struggle to get past the first year though.

TSA just posted a pair yesterday, I think they’d split them up if you ask.

I was looking at a rose banded wrasse at marine collectors. They said only males. Same with their hooded flames (but I think I rather the rose banded). I did qt my clowns but prefer not to set that up again unless really worthwhile. But yeah the males are beautiful but if it’s half the cost and longer life, rather a female

Such a short time for people paying for super male. I was just reading my one coral vendor most his other fish types are over 15, I read similar to what you’re saying under 10.

Sorry but if you only can get 2-3 from them you need to think about your husbandry and care. This has been pointed out for a few years now. Many of your fairy’s looked terrible and under weight and you give out so much bad info on mixing.

TSM fully qt’s to the book. No others do. I can talk to them about some you listed and see if they will get them. Also rose and a beautiful wrasse up higher on aggression. Hooded flame is on the lower side.
If you plan to add more that’s something to consider. Also always better to add groups of wrasse over one hear and there. I get it’s hard and we can only do so much but it’s something to consider for better success. Wrasse have a bad rap but mostly do to people not understanding them.
I will also vouch for fishotel qt if he is still doing fish. Elliot is good source but he will take shorter qt times. Still okay. I spent many hours talking to him and got fish from him but I qt them vs him.

Sorry but if you only can get 2-3 from them you need to think about your husbandry and care. This has been pointed out for a few years now. Many of your fairy’s looked terrible and under weight and you give out so much bad info on mixing.

If I’m honest, it’s mainly down to also getting larger males - “supermale” Lineatus are never lasting more than 2 years, a female/young male I have gotten 4-5 from.

A lot of my wrasse are generally not skinny after the first 2 weeks of having them - Maybe not the fattest but definitely not skinny either.
As for mixing them, the only real way to work out if it works is through testing it out - You’ve seen my mix, it’s working for me, someone else may find it goes horrendously. I simply go by what I find through working in the trade and handling some of the most common wrasses to some of the rarer ones as well as the different genera.

Also, check this dude out! Still going strong at 2 years. The Attenuatus and Lineatus both still try to compete with him for top position in the wrasse gang. Just a pain these guys never stay still long enough to get a decent photo of them - Cirrhilabrus aquamarinus

I thought tsm had a longer qt but I had to find it through google links to their site not as easy from their actual site. And I thought I saw somewhere humblefish dropped them (didn’t read into it) - so I wasn’t sure if they were still a safe bet.

I saw fish hotel but was looking at marine collectors. Considered ocean devotion & tsm but figured Elliot might be best bet. So you think tsm is a lot safer?

This is both nice and slightly concerning, seconds before I picked him up and he didn't panic at all. He's always hanging around my hand. If I hadn't had him for like a year I would have been worried it was early UNWD now I think he's just super calm.

Hooded flame? How do you like his color compared to some of your other wrasses? I saw you had a bunch planned for stock but couldn’t find a full tank view
