Can be a little on the aggressive side as male but not too bad, they behave more like Cirrhilabrus than paracheilinus. I've found it to be better to start with a female and let her transition, the females adapt to captivity a little better than the males do. As far as beauty goes ,it's hard to beat a flashing Eightline.

Macropharyingodon wrasses are more on the difficult side. They are sensitive and prefer to eat live copepods/amphipods that they hunt on the rocks and sand (like a mandarin). They can be weaned onto prepared food, but there are no guarantees. In my experience it's best if they eat 3-4 times a day.

Based on my understanding they don't have very long lifespans, especially if you get a male.

It would also be a good idea to treat with prazi, as they frequently have parasites that affect successfully keeping them.

Completely agree, and that's exactly how I describe the behavior to others as well. They're on par with the size of the smaller Cirrhilabrus rather than Paracheilinus as well.

~5 years, so best to start with a juvi.

Is it ok to put a yellow candy hogfish (Bodianus Bimaculatus) with a Cirrhilabrus Cyanopleura? Also would like to ad a Halichoeres Claudia. I have a 120 gal reef tank.

Bodianus bimaculatus, like most species of Bodianus, tend to become quite aggressive, and especially so to similar species. It's a genus to avoid with other wrasses.

I completely agree.
One of the first fish that attracted me to this hobby was the Ornate Leopard Wrasse; back in 1992. Based on their poor survival rates, I thought I would never try owning one.
That is until I found a pair of female Vermiculated Wrasses at a LFS just a year ago that were eating frozen foods. I brought them both home, only to have one of them perish due to an aggressive angelfish that kept the wrasse buried in the sand bed. The larger of the female wrasses fended for herself and has done very well for me.
The wrasse picks at pods throughout the day, and eats frozen foods with gusto; she's fattened up nicely.
I am thrilled to have been able to own one of these amazing wrasses!

One of my favorite pictures of her.

Here are a few of mine. Both are housed in a 4x2x2 120 with a leopard and yellow wrasse and a handful of other non-wrasses.
