Are there any other fish in the tank with him? Some fish get very stressed w/o other fish around. In the wild, if no fish are out and about, it is usually a sign that there is a predator nearby. He doesn't know there is not a predator in the tank.
Oh that makes sense, he's been in qt three weeks, and on the floor I mean he went nuts and jumped on me. That's a nice blue flasher, I should pick one up; my old one was so beatiful!

Is there a reason why I never see any types of the pencil wrasses owned by anyone? Just curious, there are some pretty ones.

They're pretty delicate shippers and those which arrive alive are often in poor shape. If they're established on a prepared diet, they can fair well, but only in very peaceful tanks. They can get intimidated rather easily. So in short, not many people "do" it right, if they find one for sale alive.

TJ keeps them.

The delicate shippers statement is right. There care is a lot like that of leopards. If you find one that has made it past week 2 in captivity, then it will probably do quite well for you.

They are extremely peaceful, and if housed with dominant sand burying wrasses, such as Halichoeres and Macropharyngodon, will in many cases, revert to female colors, but if kept with fairy and flasher wrasses will keep their bright coloration. The caveat will be the aggressive fairies, such as scott's and whipfins.

Beautiful wrasses!

Nice leapord action. Potters are my favorite wrasse of all time! How old is that one and how long have you had the choati?

Thanks guys. Leopards are my favorite. I've also got a nice blue star in that tank. The blue star is the oldest, at about 2 years, then the Potter's was added last September, and the Chaoti was added in January of this year.

After a challenging bout of wrasse-on-wrasse violence (which cost one Ornate leopard her life), they are now all happily coexisting, hunting, and eating like champs.
