Just want to add a picture of the pylei as illustration. What a wonderful fish. There are a few subspecies in pylei, but all are pretty aggressive for fairy wrasses, and I would recommend against adding one, let alone more than one, to your tank.
They get aggressive as they get older, particularly to peaceful fish and fish added after them.I found it and it's a 8 lined wrasse. The question is now is it worth having I'm my tank? It's about 3 inches long and got it for $20. Should I keep it?
Yes, an initial phase male.Male or female rhomboid? I purchased a female, but am I wrong thinking it's already transitioning?

So do you think it will stop eating hermit crabs? And would you happen to know if it is male or female by chance?
Our last one grew to just over 5" (13cm)A beauty for sure! How big will it get?

What are the signs to look for, please, when evaluating this?Yes, an initial phase male.
In this instance, it's simply the coloration of the fins becoming prominent and not opaque. What are the signs to look for, please, when evaluating this?
