Couple messy pics of my timor wrasse.

a power-cut just happened and everything is alright (Luckily) but I came back to see this. My Pseudocheilinops ataenia in his mucous cocoon but not in the rocks, wonder if that’s due to him not knowing because of the power being out or if that’s just his place to sleep now.

I was so worried my little Biota tang might be aggressive since she’s had the run of the tank but little “Elsa” has been so confident! Swimming together almost all the time!!

just got my first wrasse, a melanurus wrasse, acclimated and added to tank and it quickly was swimming around after a short hiding period, not buried, but quickly started swimming around the rock work and the tank
Checked the tabk as lights were dimming seems to have buried for the night hopefully I spot it tomorrow with no issue!

That’s good that he didn’t go straight for the sand bed. All three of my sand sleeping wrasse did something similar when I added them. They didn’t bother with the sand first thing and actually stayed out and happily swam around for a bit then as lights dimmed they went into the sand.

I thought these guys were difficult with lights on but lights out is a pain, I ended up having to get videos of them to actually get some nice photos.

And today once the tank woke up mine was out and about even if I walked up it wasn't skittish, slight side note one of the new corals I may need to move but has opened up more, and the 2 headed purple tip frogspawn I got as well has really opened up even more so then at the lfs I think

He’s beautiful, also good to hear he isn’t skittish!
Id love to see a male in person but my LFS rarely gets any melanurus in and when they do they’re females.

At the store to me he looked more female or juvenile. But once in my tank the colors really popped

1 cebu lubbocks fairy

They’re beautiful! Love the nahakys, possibly going to add that to my list of final wrasse options. But man I need something from a seperate genus and not just leave it at the 4 I have currently.

Not a nahakys, it's a bathyphilus. Came in skinnier than I'd have liked, and it had visible flukes (though the prazi seems to have knocked them all off), but it'll fatten up quickly with 4-5x daily feedings, and seems none the worse for wear.

I added this Checkerboard wrasse (Halichoeres hortulanus) a couple weeks ago to my tank. He is my 6th wrasse and quickly becoming my favorite. He acclimated quickly and unlike other wrasses Ive had he never hid from day one. He hunts all day long and is a welcomed addition. Im hoping he develops a taste for Monti eating Nudis but im not optimistic. I know the day will probably come when he does develop a taste for snails. Unique fish!

Dang, I love Hortulanus when it comes to more boisterous wrasses. Now I’m on the fence with going for another aggressive but rare/uncommon wrasse or sticking with peaceful but uncommon/rare and will stick up for itself.

Yeah, these wrasses are extremely hard to get keeping, they’re way up there with Anampses femininus. No way is it a beginner wrasse so I assume you have owned wrasses of that genus that are somewhat difficult to keep.
Red blotches? Is that by any chance what looks like sores?
