I believe it's a system notification that let's you know a watched or replied to thread has a reply and possibly more after that.

Are you referring to when you check Alerts (the little bell)?

That’s an automatic message at the end of the alert to let you know there may be more posts.

The person that posted a reply to something you wrote, didn’t actually type that.
