Both have been classified as being synonymous taxonomy wise, so wellsophyllia radiata doesn't exist anymore its now considered Trachyphyllia

Yea, the only difference I’ve seen with naming convention is if the bottom is flat or comes to a V.

I have also read literature that says that morphological detail varies depending on the substrate it developed/ grew on soft substrate=conical, hard substrate = flat

but as far as coral taxonomy is concerned Trachyphyllia and wellsophyllia are no longer seprate genus / different corals, I think the reclassification happened like 10 years ago?

I’ll take your word for it. I’m too “reef young” to remember that. They are my favorites right now, though!
