Omg I put a new sump in and now all of a sudden my external overflow is gurgling like crazy. It’s so freaking loud now. What can I do to silence this? Raise the water level lower it? Move my powerheads and deal with that mess again?

It would definitely help if you could get a valve under the overflow pipe to dial it in. Did you go bigger on the sump? Increase water volume?
More details would help but I would start with adding water.

You need to add a valve to that drain line so that you can adjust it but if there is not an extra drain for emergency overflow that could be dangerous. Cant really tell by the picture.

The drain pipe shouldn’t be more than an inch or so under water in sump. This is likely the issue if return pump and overflow box where the same before and after your new sump,
A stockman standpipe will help, and would not put a valve on a single drain system

Hang on back or external whatever the proper term is. Tank isn’t drilled

A ball valve and adjust the drain flow down to raise the water level will solve the problem
