Thoughts on a hang on sump?

I had that fuge and the light that comes with it. Good place to grow macro algae and add a tad more water volume to your tank. It definitely does not replace a sump though.
 
we ran sumpless on a 75 for almost 15 years using a good hang on skimmer and hang on power filter so could run carbon and such.
we added that exact fuge about 2 years ago and worked nicely for growing cheato and was a great place to put heater.
 
I have that sump the problem with my tank is the cross bars conflict with the HOB sump piping. You will be surprised of how much weight they put on a tank.
 
Agree with all the above.
Look at those and other hob refugiums . eBay has a few as well. Some of them will also allow you to put a compact skimmer in as Well.
