I'm adding number two and three of emerald crabs to my 32.5 flex. Added one about a month ago and have seen no bubble algae progress... I went back this afternoon to get 2 more and let them float in the bag while at work. While acclimating I see a hole in the one crab. And rhe other is a little lighter in color and lighter claws. Just wanted some thoughts. Haven't posted in awhile. Neglected my reef tank and now I have bubble algae... been feeling lazy maybe posting on here will inspire me.

I always like these guys and they do a good job on algae. But they also seem to eat my cleaner shrimp during molt. The only crabs I keep now are pom pom.

I don't think I'd put these two in my tank.

As far as color, the color on mine lightens up the closer the get to molting. Mine have been ideal citizens and are always eating algae. Decades ago I added my first ones for the same reason as you and they eradicated the bubble algae.

They come in these two colors and also red but as for them. . . . I trust a politician more than I trust an emerald crab and anything I dont trust more than an emerald crab is Two of them. Sooner or later they go after coral.
