Just finished up cycling, ready for the ugly phase!

Bit of history, I ran a 12g cube with and 15g sump for 5 years. Went well until the cats figured out how to get in that was about 2 years ago. After that I let the algae cover the glass and sorta neglected it. No water changes, no dosing. Eventually things stablized and the tank looked alright. No algae, or pest. Acouple soft corals made it through as well as my one remaining clownfish. When I took down the tank and moved the rock over nitrates were in the high 60ppm, and .8ppm phosphates. I should also note I ran 0 filtration on my old tanks. I had a skimmer going for a while but found it unnecessary. I kept feeding to a minimal and added pods and cuc every month.

The plan for the new tank is to keep thing simple and add as needed. Starting with 0 filtration, but I’ll likely add a fleece roller, potentially 2. If PH is an issue, I have an old skimmer I can add with a co2 scrubber. I also have a uv sterilizer I can add if needed. I do plan on dosing all for reef and adding a controller. I travel a lot and really only do water changes every couple months once the tank matures.

Fish wise:
Tomini tang (until he outgrows it, then he’s destine for a bigger tank)
Bella goby
6 lined wrasse (might switch this up)
Pair of clowns

Corals:
Favia/chalice dominate on the two rocks to the left
Leathers and gorgonia in the back
Zoas, acans and rics dominate the rock on the left, maybe an anemone or an hammer
one or two show piece torches
Sun coral on some of the overhangs

Inverts:
Dwarf hermits x20
Porcelain anemone crab
Nassarius snails x5 (won’t replace after adding sand sifting goby)
Cerith snails x5
Turbo x5
Feather duster x3

Looking good! Sounds like you're doing the legwork (and brainwork) as far as planning ahead.

But, imo, don't put a tang in that tank no matter your future plans. Stock your tank with fish the tank will support now and in the future. Good luck!

I agree on no to the tang. Never stock your tank with the idea of "i'll get a bigger tank when they outgrow my current tank". I have seen too many people not do this and end up having all sorts of issues. Other than that, your plan looks great!
