thoughts on reef casa aquariums?

Company is run by a slimeball, bad guys always win tho
I am new to this hobby. Is Frag Box a bad company?

Anyway I am interested in the Reef Casa tank. My question is does the pump or filter create splashes to the point that the water droplets go outside the tank leaving behind salt residues all over?

Depends, if you are new to the hobby and have cash, he will gladly help you with that problem. For hobby vets and ex employees tho, apparently the guy is a slimeball. I only met him once in person and got bad vibes so I believe the stories.

Just curious as I’m setting up the flat six and your aquascape is almost identical to the look I’m going for. Is the shelf rock you used from BRS?
Im not sure if it's BRS rock, I got it locally from a guy. Im curious to see how your scape turned out. Any photos?

So this depends on the fish, I've had some that like to hang out on the edge and will splash water and others that don't.

Could you elaborate? I bought a couple reefcasa 18 gallon kits and am quite happy with them

I'd agree with that assessment, but also reef casa is a pretty good build.

I don’t like my reef casa. The first gen back chambers and intake have issues where there’s a bio film. Apparently it’s fixed on the second but I heard it still didn’t help

I like my Reefcasa 6 gallon Pico.

Ever noticed how few long term reef Casa tanks there are out there?

The dimensions are interesting but for most the novelty wears off and the design issues start to become a headache.

Remember these are rebranded $50 Ali express tanks, can’t expect much.

On the Nano Reef forums they did some guerilla marketing and quietly gave away like 10. At first everyone was like wow how cool, then slowly people started tearing them down. The halo light is like a $15 light rebranded to be a “Prime killer” but it’s so purple and the spotlight effect is insane.

There aren't many long term tanks out there because they haven't been out that long. The biofilm issue is real, but tinkering with flow and being diligent about changing the floss pads mitigates or eliminates it. I've had my Flat 6 mushroom tank running for quite a while now (19 months now), and I still like it. I absolutely LOVE the dimensions of it.

iSeaLive has a roller mat for the Studio 12 now. It might be adaptable to the Flat 6 as well. I'm planning on trying it out on my build. That might fix my one and only complaint with the tank(s).

Full disclosure... The Studio 12 I have (also first gen) was free from Reef Casa. I haven't done my build thread on it yet because I had a minor heart attack a while back that set some of my projects (way) behind. It's coming, though. 😅

If these tanks are available on AliE, post a link! I could use a couple more, although I'd have to check the new shipping and tariff rates these days.

there it is

Yep. I'm not hiding that. But... I paid my own money for my Flat 6, and the build thread for that was what prompted the offer for the Studio 12 several months later. You can read through the Flat 6 thread or my original Studio 12 post (both links in my sig). I'm sure the Studio 12 will suffer from the same issues.

None of that changes the fact that nobody else is offering any GLASS tanks with similar dimensions, and that is what drew me to the Flat 6 in the first place. The Flat 6 makes for a perfect mushroom tank, and the Studio 12 dimensions are perfect for a desktop SPS/clam tank.

I would like to get my hands on a "Mark II" and see if the improvements fixed the typical issues with the originals.

Ive had my Flat10 for over a year now and have had zero issues with biofilm. I wonder why it's happening to others? It took me a while to get the flow right but everything is doing well now. I'd love to see that link to Allie express, would be nice to set up another one of these.

I was being serious about the AliE/Alibaba thing... Are they really available there? Post a link! I'm interested!

I keep losing Random mushrooms on my flat six. I got it through a Black Friday deal and it was fun. I enjoyed it. But I have a prime on it. I have no idea why I just lose random shrooms

This is spectacular. Lighting?

Very interesting. Would you mind sharing more details or show us some facts on these are in fact from Ali's express and the led light quality?
