I’m thinking of making my tank into a mangrove/lagoon tank with a simulated tide. When the tide comes in water will be drawn from a reservoir back into the tank, when the water comes in I want it to RUSH back in, so it looks like waves crashing over the rocks and carrying bubbles everywhere. Is there any suggestions for a cheap pump that powerful? Also how many gallons per hour should I need if I want to put around eighteen gallons of water into a forty gallon with that rushing wave effect? Hope this makes sense lol

I not sure I understand, are you talking about creating a surge tank? If so I'm sure you could search for some ideas here on the forum. I don't believe I have ever seen it done on a 40 gal though...
