I am moving the tank across my room to the window. My skimmer uses an air pump instead of a motor. But I have figured out a solution.

I am putting the air pump inside of the air tight container and running a rigid 1/4 line from the container to out the window with a muffler (to keep bugs out). Forcing it to pull its air from outside.
Any luck with this?

First: I lived in costal Florida for years, my condolences.

Second: get a new skimmer and add a CO2 scrubber. They're easy as heck to diy and cheap to run.

I will go in search of the other thread, but for anyone up against the same issue, my suggestion would have been.

  1. Get an ERV/HRV and fix the CO2 concentration in the whole house.
  2. Put a CO2 scrubber inline after the air pump and feed the skimmer using that. No reason that scrubbers can't be pressurized. They might even work better in this mode of operation.
