I am in the Southern California region and exploring the option of putting my sump in my garage.

Does anyone have any tips on the amount of insulation needed to help make this sucessful?

Tank will be 160g indoors, sump with refugium would be around 110g in the garage.

R 30 in the attic , insulate the garage door itself , if it has windows use heavy tint with maybe the mirror reflective finish facing out , you may want to insulate over the window as well depending on which way the windows face to the sun . Keep in mind that if you have concrete walls they can heat up as well and you don’t want to put the tank on the wall that gets the sun . You can also insulate them as well And you still may have to put some type of ac unit in to maintain temp in summer and if it gets cold in the winter a electric heater
