I'm planning to go for the first time this year. Any tips on the event? I've seen some videos with a super long line waiting to just enter the event. Is it really that crazy? Should I not take my kids with me? :)

Thanks

The FFM is a huge event that draws many, many people from not just Connecticut but also surrounding states. There you will see venders that come from all across the country. It can be a bit overwhelming due to the shear size of the event but something you need to experience. It does get crowded at the event so bringing small children might be a challenge, but not impossible. Pack your patience!
I get there early, shop around, spend lots of $$, hang out a bit then I'm out of there! That's my game plan but you can do it however best suits your needs.
After the FFM post your experience here and tell us what you think. I know you're going to be blown away!

How old are the kids? Younger kids can get bored easily... but it's not that bad. Strollers are hard to maneuver around people but it's rather easy... you can be there as long or short as you want... I usually go afternoon and don't wait in any line to enter. If a vendor is crowded I go around to a less crowded one. The less busy classrooms often have the best deals (less shoppers= less sold so vendors are usually happy to make deals)

My kids are 8 and 6. Sounds like I should go without them, go in the afternoon, leave my wallet behind, and only bring some cash (or risk going broke :P ). It's useful to know that I can make deals with the vendors. Will certainly try :)

Thanks both!

6 and 8 are old enough to attend imo... i went last year and my kid was 4... i had to carry him most of the show because he didn't want walk so that was annoying.
