Hi all...
Could be nothing.. but my toadstool is extremely healthy I believe and just keeps producing new heads.. any ideas? Should I leave it and let be? It basically makes either a tear in the top and separates that way or it’s making shoots off its main stalk and then separating like that. I’m not doing anything fancy

Oh yes, they definitely can do that. Normal.

Seems like a good problem to me, wish mine did that. It does seem happy and healthy so I’d say try to harvest some of the smaller ones to sell to other hobbyist make a little money back.

I heard that to do this I would need to remove it, use a sharp blade and go about that correct? As I think they leak toxins??

I’ve never cut a coral lol I won’t do it soon but maybe eventually!!

Do toadstools sting anything? Can I just let it’s do it’s thing and if it floats anywhere I can just let it be? I have mushroom corals that seem to multiple constantly lol I cleaned coralline off the side of the glass and I have them all along my rocks.

Yeah cutting them with a sharp razor blade is how you do it. They can release toxins but you can remove the rock and do it in a bucket or something. Can also run carbon after. Based on my knowledge they don’t so much sting but can use chemical warfare if they are crowded and want more space. This video is pretty good. Hopefully it posts lol.

Mine go through phases. There are times were I get several babies in a month but it's been several months since I've gotten any. Over the last 3 years I've probably had over 100 self propitiated frags.

Do you sell them or just let them populate your tank? Some are in hard to reach places and don’t feel like moving stuff to get to them

I sell them when I can, and remove them since they are just free floating, or I snip them just before they detach. I probably have about 15 in my frag tank now, but there are times where I bring a dozen or 2 to a store.

I don't think it's a big deal if you can't reach them. You are not going to put other corals there and it's not like they spread in the same way say gsp or xenia would. You can snip them off at any point or leave them be.

Do you snip yours in-tank? I’ve heard mixed things about them releasing toxins when cut

Yes I do and yes they do release toxins. I have a softy dominated mixed reef so it's not too much of an issue. Almost all my corals have some other soft coral touching them. I run carbon too.
