Toxins might only become an issue with large Sacrophyton. I only run charcoal to polish the water. Many hobbyist have large Toadstool without issue. If you are doing water changes, because if so, you really should not need to add those as they are in most salt mixes. Toadstools like a fair amount of flow so they can shed their coating once in a while. Along with that, you will want to run carbon because what they shed can be toxic to other tank mates. Toadstools are a great coral for sure though. Where you have it in the tank should be fine. What type of lighting do you have?
Mine is about the size of my hand opened up and I am a better safe than sorry kind of gal. But I actually run activated carbon for many reasons, it's just a bonus for coral warfare in my book.Toxins might only become an issue with large Sacrophyton. I only run charcoal to polish the water.
