Hey reefers. I just not a Tyree toadstool leather yesterday and it has been slumped over. I am worried that it’s not doing well and wonder if I should just wait and see or if there is something I can do to help out. Thanks for the help.

Increase flow and check your chemistry. When they wilt the need more flow.

It's done a face plant. :p

Increase flow as mentioned and maybe try to position it so it can stand up toward the light. If it is not liking standing on its own, wedge in some rock. I have had these do this and they come back fine. Just need the right conditions.

Did a water change this morning. Nitrates after water change are are 15 ppm. Everything else looks in line. I repositioned and changed the flow a bit and it’s not not in a face plant but still doesn’t look great.

1.026 salinity
0 ammonia
0 nitrites
15 nitrates
8.2 ph
8.1 alk
78.2 temp

It is shedding. Normal after moving around or water changes. It should start to come out in a couple days. Just make sure there is no black tissue. That is not a good sign.

It’s brand new to your tank. As long as it does not look like it’s melting or disintegrating it’s fine. My leathers slump, droop, shrivel, expand, etc. just be patient with it and leave it alone. As long as your parameters are good you’ll be fine. Good luck!
