Hello reefing community,

I am thinking of adding a pair of tomato clownfish to a 55gal tank and an anemone. My tank is around 46in long. In the tank atm I have a blue green chromus, a yellow tang, a solon wrasse, and a flame angle. I was wondering if these clownfish would be compatible in my current tank or if they would get to aggressive and cause trouble.

Your tank is pretty full

Tomato clowns get big (5ins) that's diameter not length so I wouldn't

More likely than not they would pick on anything small and slow as they got older

I know a lfs that takes in problem fish and about 80% of the fish they take are unruly tomato, clarkiis, or maroon clowns

Here's what I would do. Ditch the tang and get a pair of false perculas or percula clowns they're less agressive don't get as big and come in tons of varieties

I'd go with ocellaris or percula. Or, you could probably do another wrasse..

Tomato clowns are pretty aggressive, so may cause problems.

That being said I don't think your tank is overstocked at all, so adding appropriate fish shouldn't be an issue.

My clowns were pretty aggressive, but stayed around their BTA, I had a kole tang, coral beauty, longnose hawkfish, bangai cardinal pair and a few shrimp gobies in a 75G. My clowns were the first inhabitants, I saved them from a Petco. I'd say if you can find a small pair they should be OK as all the other fish have established territories. They will however attack your hand when it's in the tank, my female could draw blood bc she would bite and twist.
