Anyway to stop it from growing lol? On the rockscape, overflow, MP40s and all over my substrate which is the larger Tropic Eden Reef Flakes. Newer tank, 11 months old, a few frags here and there and my tank just glows purple. Next to impossible to take decent pics even when I adjust the lighting closer to a 10k look. I normally run about a 15k during the day and an 18k look at night, but still has a strong purple undertone.

This is what I’m talking about. All the purple on the sand is really that purple.

Look if it’s still so purple under white light, it looks a lot like Cyanobacteria, just the color is wrong. It’s surprising that coralline would be so successful in a 11 month tank. I could be wrong though.

I agree, this looks like cyano and not coraline. It wouldn’t cover your sand like that.

LOL. Been doing reef tanks since 2005, this is definitely not cyano. Here’s a full white lights just now.

The difference between what I use and most others is the Reef Flake substrate which is a lot bigger than most due to the high flow in my tank. Not interested in bare bottom so I need bigger substrate to handle 2 MP40s run at 50-60% to keep my flow really moving.

I am curious about your calcium and calcium consumption.

There is always the urchin option though. I had a few and they mowed it down quickly. They will knock down any coral that is not fastened well and when out of food will need to be rehomed.

Thanks for the better photo! If you look at your first pic and have been in the hobby since 05’ I’m sure you’d agree that it did look like cyano. Especially with the new rocks in there.
