Too much weight?

Hi all, I want to add a 0.5 gallon Hanging Breeding box to my 10 gal to make a simple refugium for chaeto. I already have a C4 HOB filter on the back of my tank and can’t really put the breeding box elsewhere than alongside it, would it be a risk in the long run?

Not really a risk. Your tank is strapped on the top so you have plenty of support. Go for it.
