So I just noticed that my torch coral is all closed up and it's mouth is open with a brown stringy stuff coming out. Should I be concerned my parameters are the following
S-1.026
Temp-79
Dkh-9.8
No3-10ppm
Po4-.3
Mag-1350
Cal-420
I have had it in the tank for about 3 weeks and has been open since I put him in the tank. I also have a purple torch that looks great open and puffed up. What should I do? I don't want to lose this beautiful coral. Please help

Try checking the skeleton to see if its receding. Imo looks fine, maybe just pooping or shedding some zoox

Mine occasionally close up and shed zoox then open back up and they are fine, I agree check for any tissue damage or receding tissue. If there is none just keep an eye on it and keep everything stable.

The only new addition to the tank was the purple torch,I did notice that some of the tentacles are the morphs. Like in stead of being just stright some look like Y's at the tips Well some at the tips have 2-3 tentacles that growing out. It hard to explain. So if someone gets what I am trying to say can you let me know if this is normal, I tryed to get a picture but it's near impossible to get a shoot were you can see it.if the skeleton is receding what Do you do to stop that? Before I left for work this morning I checked the tank like I do everyday and noticed that the tentacles are showing alittle sign of wanting to come out

The split tentacles are fine and normal mine do it all the time, as far as stopping tissue recession if it is happening that starts with trying to identify a cause. Make sure all water perams are in the right zone and STABLE (better to have something a little off and stable then swinging widely about a target zone). Then check to see if its getting too much light/not enough, somthing eating it, is it getting stung ect....that is generally what i check when I notice any tissue damage. Aside from that the coral will heal itself if you leave it be and keep everything stable.

torch and hammer kinda tricky for me. They are happy today and the next day the base of the head may peel off.

It looks like it should bounce back. You can try reef dipping it if it stays like this a few days.

Do you feed it? Mine exude that brown stuff sometimes a few hours after they eat.

What color are the tentacles on the one pictured?

It might be adjusting to the new light levels in your system. My (green) torches live under 250W MH and get best polyp extension when not directly beneath it - - meaning less PAR (about 50) give better PE. When they are directly beneath the light, they multiply (split heads) faster, but have very short PE.

I have a brown frogspawn (also Euphillia sp.) that I've been nursing back to health. It's PE is best if I feed it every day. If I fail to feed it several days in a row, the polyps recede. It too is in about 50-60 PAR beneath a 250@ 14K Hamilton MH lamp with Giesemann T5 supplementation.

BTW mine are now conditioned to eat Prime Reef flakes, but can also accept blood worms and Mysis.
