Hi All,

I have two torch coral that aren’t fully extending. They have been fine before and there’s no changes to the water or the flow yet they won’t open fully. I got a new torch coral which I can see in the photo the purple one which is happy and thriving.

Can you describe your system and water parameters.

It’s a blue marine 100L nano tank with a jecod wave maker on mode 1 on slow speed.

The lights are on a 12h cycle starting on the moon light setting moving to normal then make to moon. The tank light setting is a button that you manually press.

I tested all the parameters yesterday and they are fine slightly high on Phosphate but not dangerous.

Both torches used to open fully. Can these particular torches touch??

Those flesh bands don't look good on the older torches . Try and get full tank parameters listed along with lights and schedule.

The two existing torches are not healthy and have a lost head, and missing flesh bands. They are in a state of decline and it has been going on for a while, unnoticed, because it’s slow. Until it gets too far, and then they stop opening and can die quick. Something is not correct / adequate in the system for these corals

The new purple torch is thriving (and looks very healthy. Nice band) because it came from a system that was healthy. My guess is that in a few weeks to months, it will end up like the others. Something is wrong, missing, etc. what’s your parameters? “Fine” is not sufficient

If you want help, we need you to provide the values. Alkalinity, calcium, phosphate, nitrates, salinity, magnesium

You can say they are all fine but I don’t know if you test for all these things, and what fine means to you.

Here to help, need more info

The purple torch flesh band is visible and healthy

The other two don’t have any. The skeletal ridges I pointed out, the torch grows from inside.. the tissue should be growing over and covering these ridges. This being exposed, is a direct opening to the innards of the torch. The torch band will erode if proper conditions and nutrition are not present. Once the band eroded away, now we have an opening that allows bacteria and infection to develop. It’s a serious health concern for the torch and it’s very very easy at this point for the torch to die.

It doesn’t get like this overnight. It takes several weeks typically for them to erode this far. It’s been happening for a while

Following along for tank parameters. Hopefully we can spot something, because my guess is that the new one will go the way of the other two. Ime euphyllia enjoy some nutrient rich water. I had a few shrivel up and die when my nutrients bottomed out. I wasn't checking no3 or po4 then I got dinos and my frogspawn and hammer went the way of your torches. I was heartbroken.

Who makes the lights? Brand and model please

Do you feed the torches?
