Torch loss

So sorry. We learn from our mistakes and sometime things just happen. I’ve lost quite a few myself. Consistent testing is a good idea. Our tanks tend to tell us when something is wrong. I take a peek at my tank every morning. Almost every time a coral is looking bad, I’ve had some type of swing in parameters. Also, Do you have any type of air freshener or scented oils?

I'm posting this just to remind everyone that no matter how much you think you know and got it covered in the blink of an eye it all can go sour. Lost a 250.00 torch and it was a reminder of how tough this hobby is.

i lost one of my auzi torches last week. Im guess my angel fish took a bite out of it. I moved it to a different tank but it did not survive, a peace of flash was ripped off of it.
Since that happened, i went up on my feeding from 4 times a day to 9 times. So far so good.

Sorry for your loss, i wonder maybe nutrience spike?

If possible, I would avoid using them. One of the many things I’ve learned on R2R. If it’s in the air, it can get into the tank

Once you have it dialed in I can cut you a head of my small torch and you can give it another go - You will just have to come up to Central MA. :)

I’m really sorry for your loss. It’s good for beginners like me to hear about these incidents to help us keep pushing forward knowing it can happen to reef keepers of all levels. I lost two euphyllias over the past year, including one that cost $150. Meanwhile I have another euphyllia that was fine the whole time.

It’s always hard to lose an expensive coral. I try not to spend $60 or more on a single coral for that reason. You never know what can happen.

Lost a nice wall hammer I got for less than 2 weeks. This hobby is not for fainted heart peeps. We all need to recognize that things we keep are living creatures like us, they do die! So be easy and happy reefing!

I'm sorry for your loss... I remember back when I started years ago (almost 20 years now) that I got a 150 Ric Yuma and back then 150 was a huge amount for me. The Ric died in a couple of days... But the hobby continues, and you will get better and better and still can't explain death of some things. Keep those test kits and keep aiming for stabllkty and keep an eye on everything daily. You will rebound :)

Losses are never welcomed. This hobby even with knowledge can be challenging to the most experienced hobbyist.
