So I am not new to SW. I AM new to torches. We have 1 torch so far in my biocube. It’s doing great. I found a new friend who is selling me a Todds torch. Can it touch my firefly torch without coral warfare? It has way longer tentacles than mine. I’m not sure about the indo/Aussie and all that. Do I need to keep them separate? Tank and pics of my torch attached. Thanks torch experts!

Recently hammers and frogspawn have been reclassified and are no longer euphyllia. That’s why you have never seen hammers/frogspawn touch torches and be fine with each other. Torches can touch since they are all euphyllia.

What did they change the classification to? I didn’t know this!

Dang it. Does this mean I can sue the coral vendors for false advertising?

I would have a ton of free corals if people would sue lol. I have heard several retailers like tidal gardens say that they would love to just be scientifically accurate, but for SEO purposes they can’t because they need to come off to their customers clearly on what their corals are for they can sell.

Hey @Waynerock, does it matter that my torch isn’t long and flowy like the Todds torch or yours? It doesn’t sting my Zoa even though it’s tentacles lay over on them all the time they stay open. Will a long flowy torch murder an non-flowy one?

Dr Todd's torch by definition will have some of the longest thinnest tentacles. I have personally only seen hellfires extend further than true Todd's torches.

They shouldn't be Any issue together.

Thank you! I am about as far from a torch “expert” as you can get. Mine lived and does well in my biocube but that’s about all I can tell you about it.

Nope, the short ones are usually the Aussie species and the long are usually indo. They should play nice.

If the tips stick to each other, that's a problem, no love there.
